The Wayne State Guarantee is paying standard fees and tuition for eligible students through a combination of financial aid sources, including grants, scholarships, and state and federal funding.
Wayne State announced the new program on February 13th, 2023, which coincides with the new state scholarship program, the Michigan Achievement Scholarship, offering in-state students $5,500 per year if they attend a four-year public university in the state of Michigan.
The newly passed Michigan Achievement Scholarship has helped other schools make similar moves toward tuition-free initiatives. Under the same scholarship program, students would be eligible for $4,000 per year if they attended a private nonprofit college in the state of Michigan. Attending community college would award $2,750 for families who meet the income requirements.
