A human services degree is great for people of all different personalities. Students who are outgoing may enjoy working in an outreach function of the human services career path, and those who are more introverted may enjoy working on the research and administrative side. Generally, government jurisdictions will have a department of Health and Human Services, which generally encompasses public services related to an individual’s health and well-being, such as food and hunger assistance or those suffering from physical or mental abuse.
With a degree in human services, students will study how these services are administered, financed, and what role they play in the larger community. Those who complete this degree may go on to be social workers, counselors, caseworkers, and human services assistants for governments or nonprofit organizations. Human services is a great degree path for students who wish to go on and earn graduate degrees in areas such as public health, social work, or marriage and family therapy.
